Customs duty in Thailand: everything you need to know

I'm going to tell you everything you need to know about Thailand's customs rules so that you can travel with peace of mind.
What is totally forbidden in Thailand
As you might have guessed, the drugs, weapons and explosives are strictly forbidden in Thailand.
The same applies tofood import and obscene and pornographic objects and literature (books, photos, DVDs, counterfeit and pirated items) are also prohibited.
Visit electronic cigarettes are banned in Thailand because of the loss of tax revenue to the state. You can risk up to 5 years' imprisonment and a 500,000 baht (~€12700) fine for possession of an electronic cigarette.
In practice, tolerance does exist (entry and use), but like all tolerances, it depends on the goodwill of the Thai police.
What's limited in Thailand
There are some limitations:
- Tobacco 250 grams of tobacco or 200 cigarettes per adult passenger. Want to bring in more? You'll need to make a declaration and pay a tax.
- Alcoholic beveragee: a maximum of 1 liter is allowed per adult passenger (there is no limit on alcohol content). You'll need to make a declaration and pay a tax if you wish to bring in more.
- Personal medications You'll need to fill in the customs form and provide the prescribing physician's prescription.
- Currency Foreign currency must be declared in France if the sums (cash or cheques) or objects transported are equal to or greater than €10,000. cerfa 13426 form).
In Thailand, you'll need to file a tax return only if your foreign currency exceeds €17,000. There is no taxation.
Export regulations in Thailand

Theoretically apply for a license to export Buddha images. You are not allowed to leave the country with Buddha images, religious art or antiques without a permit obtained from the Thai Fine Arts Department.
There are no restrictions for Buddha images, pictures or amulets smaller than 12 cm. They can be made of any substance, such as gold, silver, bronze, marble or wood.
Animal or plant species
Certain animal or plant products (flowers) are subject to regulations.
Counterfeits

Beware of counterfeits ! Counterfeit items will be seized, and the fine can be very hefty.
